All Saints offers the Sacrament of Reconciliation on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, May 1 – No Confession
  • Friday, May 3 – First Friday – No morning Confession
  • Friday, May 3 – First Friday – Confession at 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, May 4 – 3:00 – 4:00 PM

First Friday
For the First Friday of each month, we have now added the following to the schedule:

Confession – after 7:00 AM Mass
Confession – 7:00 PM
Mass in Spanish – 8:00 PM

Please note that for the morning confessions, once we have posted a sign that the confession line is closed, please do not enter the line. This will allow us to finish those who have already been waiting in line and will allow the priests to finish before the 8:30 AM Mass. One should not miss a part of the Mass (for example, the Liturgy of the Word or the Liturgy of the Eucharist) due to being in Confession. Also, please do not put “placeholders” for a place in line, such as a hymnal on the floor, during Mass. We ask those in line to be considerate of others. Thank you

Gracias.

Join the Parish Festival Planning Committee

The All Saints Parish Festival Committee has started to take formation and will meet on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 PM in Room 2 of Fr. Kelley Wing (Entrance #19, from Stonewall Road). Consider coming to the meeting and helping to make this year’s festival a memorable one.

At this time, we are in particular need of volunteers who would be willing to coordinate or assist with the coordination of a few of our activities. If you have any questions, please contact Matt Lewandowski (703-335-7471 or res19qf7@verizon.net).

Beginning the Gospel According to Luke

With the First Sunday of Advent we begin Cycle B of our 3 year Lectionary cycle (A-B-C). The Lectionary is the book of Scripture readings used at Mass. The Gospel of Mark is the Gospel that we hear during this new liturgical year. Make this a part of your regular Bible reading at home. Note: Because the Gospel of Mark is short, some readings from the Bread of Life discourse from the Gospel of John, are heard in the summer.

The winged lion is the symbol of St. Mark the Evangelist. This symbol appears in a vision of the Prophet Ezekiel where four winged creatures represent the four evangelists (Ezekiel 1:10). St. Mark, represented as a winged lion, is also derived from the prophetic visions contained in the verse Revelation 4:7, The first creature resembled a lion, the second was like a calf, the third had a face like that of a human being, and the fourth looked like an eagle in flight. The lion is one of the four living creatures described in the book surrounding the throne of the Almighty and they are chosen as symbols of the four evangelists. Matthew is depicted as a human, Mark as a lion, Luke as an ox, and John as an eagle.

[Mark] shows Jesus always on the go, unceasingly moving elsewhere, farther, and urging his disciples to
follow him without ever stopping and getting settled. …

[It is] a narrative manifestly structured to urge its readers to take side in the action Mark recounts. He wrote it to incite them to recognize, along with the centurion who witnessed Jesus’ death that, “Truly this man was the Son of God (Mark 15:39) and to receive the good news with joy and faith before the empty tomb: “Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here” (Mark 16:6).

Scheduling a Mass Intention for 2024

The scheduling of Mass intentions at All Saints Parish is done through the parish office. Please note the following:

  • Scheduled Masses — If you are a parishioner and would like to have a Mass offered for someone, please stop by the Parish Office. We receive many requests for the limited number of Masses offered each year. In view of this fact and the size of our parish, to ensure some fairness in the procedure, we are asking that each family limit their Mass Intentions to no more than twelve (12) scheduled Masses per year. The customary Mass stipend in the Province of Baltimore, to which the Arlington Diocese belongs, is $10.00.
  • Unscheduled Masses — If you wish to have other Masses offered for an individual or need, an unscheduled Mass will be offered within a short period of time by a priest of the parish or sent to a priest in a seminary, campus ministry, retreat house, or the missions.
  • Purgatorial Society — Deceased family members and friends of our parish may be enrolled as a member of the Purgatorial Society of All Saints Catholic Church, and as such will be remembered in a special Mass each month for one year. Suggested Mass donation is $20.00.
  • All Saints and St. Gabriel Mission — Mass intentions for Masses at All Saints Church will be taken at the All Saints Parish Office. Mass intentions for Masses at St. Gabriel Mission will be taken at the St. Gabriel Pastoral Center located at 9110 Railroad Drive, Suite 300, Manassas Park.

All Saints Music Ministry – Overview

RCIA Sponsors Needed

RCIA Journeying to Jesus

Sponsors for those who are becoming Catholic. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) (or children) is the process for bringing adults and young people into the Catholic Church. Each individual in the program needs a sponsor. As a representative of the faith community, the sponsor is a companion on the journey to full initiation.

Sponsors offer advice and encouragement and grow together with the person they sponsor as they share their faith together. There are many adults and young people who do not have someone in their lives to make that commitment.

If you are interested or willing to share your faith experience with someone who wishes to join the Church, please contact the Religious Education office (571-516-3154). Samantha Welsh, Director of Religious Education, will be happy to speak with you about the program.
